Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Arthroplasty Case Reports publishes case study, images in the field of shoulder, elbow arthroplasty & joint reconstruction surgery. Shoulder and Elbow Arthroplasty: Elbow replacement surgery removes damaged areas of the elbow joint and replaces them with parts made of metal and plastic (implants). This surgery is also called elbow arthroplasty. Three bones meet in the elbow. The upper arm bone (humerus) connects like a loose hinge to the larger of the two forearm bones (ulna). The two forearm bones (radius and ulna) work together to provide rotation. Traditionally, elbow replacement surgery has had a higher rate of complications than surgeries to replace hip or knee joints. But recent advances in surgical technique and implant design have improved the success rate of elbow replacements.
In view of the changing market and procedures, this journal is a source of reference and research for the development of these new technologies and practices. With the changes in healthcare and the move towards value-based medicine, there is also a need for more outcome studies focused on upper extremity arthroplasty. These studies will be required to ensure reimbursement for arthroplasty procedures and care. The journal publishes educational Case reports as well as Review articles, Case Series, Clinical Images, Video Surgery Case Reports and meta-analyses will be welcomed. Topics covered include fractures, dislocations, diseases and injuries of the rotator cuff, imaging techniques, arthritis, arthroscopy, arthroplasty, and rehabilitation, surgical, and physical techniques for treating injury and disease of the upper extremity, including the shoulder girdle, arm, and elbow.
